Good day, good people
Durban is in the heart of winter, and it has me thinking about the seasons of life.
If you know Durban winters, you’ll know they are unique. The mornings are crisp, the evenings are cool, yet the days are often warmed by beautiful sunshine. Winter has a way of reminding us that seasons change, even when they seem to linger.
This morning, I found myself watching the birds along the stream in our front yard. They were busy building their nests, flying back and forth with tiny twigs in their beaks. Their cheerful chirping filled the air with anticipation.
What struck me wasn’t simply that they were building.
It was why they were building.
They were preparing for a season they could not yet see.
There was hope in every twig they carried.
There was trust in every journey they made.
There was quiet expectation that tomorrow would come.
Immediately, I was reminded of the words of Jesus:
“Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
Matthew 6:26
If our heavenly Father faithfully cares for the birds, how much more does He care for us?
Perhaps today you find yourself in a different kind of winter.
Maybe you are waiting for answers.
Waiting for healing.
Waiting to become a parent.
Waiting for an adoption journey to unfold.
Waiting for hope to return after disappointment.
Waiting has a way of tempting us to stop dreaming.
To stop believing.
To stop building.
But this morning, those little birds reminded me of something profound.
Don’t stop hoping.
Don’t stop believing.
Don’t stop building.
The season you are in today is not the whole story.
The Lord reminds us in Jeremiah 29:11:
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”
Whatever season you find yourself in, keep preparing your heart for what God has promised. Keep trusting His timing. Keep building your life upon His faithfulness.
Winter never has the final word.
Spring is already on God’s calendar.
Hope for every season
Restoring hope restoring hearts…
Love always
