fill empty homes and orphan hearts

Good day, good people, it has been a while since I’ve taken to our blog. The work has continued with a focus on different aspects. Today I write with a warmed heart and a passion rekindled.

Ubuntu is an ancient African word meaning ‘humanity to others’. It is often described as reminding us that ‘I am what I am because of who we all are’.

In the Holy Scriptures reference is made to “how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity”

Unbutu is not just a word but an experience and this Mandela Month allowed us the wonderful privilege  to experience the same in our, the Khevna Foundation and The Virtual Agent collaboration to revamp the reception, play, library areas, and 3 interview rooms of the Phoenix Child Welfare.

Our initial contact began with a meet and greet on site with Leeni Gounder, social worker at PCW, an amazing woman with great compassion for our community, Natasha Naidoo the HR Manager at The Virtual Agent, a remarkable, driven and caring individual with a heart for the upliftment of communities in need. There was an immediate resonance of ideas and that began the ball rolling with the ‘operation revamp’.

With kind assistance and valuable advise from Mr. Mervin Isaac of Prodec Paints we were able to source what was needed for the transformation intended.

Now that everything was good to go all we did was patiently for the 26 July 2024 to arrive. D Day for ‘operation revamp.’ Racheal was the person we met first and if she was anything to go by we knew there was a team of passionate and enthusiastic individuals to come. At the helm of this dynamic company is CEO, Mr. Terence Sewraj, an absolutely amazing young man who leads his team by example, willing to dirty his hands to get the job done. It was a pleasure to meet his beautiful wife Del who worked tireless along side the other team members of TVA. Team ‘TVA’ is best described as a whole vibe. Respectful and caring, youthful and energetic, dynamic and resourceful team players and…. LOUD, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Amongst them was a gentle giant who was able to reach the ceiling effortlessly and cover so much space in no time at all. Thank you.

You guys definitely brought brightness into the place long before the paint went on.

How wonderful to be able to cross racial and cultural divides and simply work together this Mandela Month having the end goal in mind. A more pleasant and inviting environment to greet those entering the walls of the Phoenix Child Welfare.

We express our deep gratitude and sincere appreciation to The Virtual Agent for this collaboration with Khevna Foundation. Thank you to PCW for allowing us this opportunity to make a difference.

Love always…
