Warm greetings from a sizzling Durban. This week has been eventful as it is the last week of summer holidays. I must say the highlight of my week has to be my meeting a beautiful nine month old little boy.
His life is shrouded under such dire circumstances but that beautiful smile on his face is enough to light up even the most disillusioned of heart. Miraculously he has found his way into the home of our dear, dear friends… they at the moment are experiencing infertility and are hopeful to conceive soon. We pray daily for this to happen.
For me to see them engage with this gorgeous baby and take him as their own as they foster him for a little while has allowed me a glimpse into seeing the doubt to “adoption being an option” melt away before my very eyes. God prepares us for what lies ahead.
Coming to terms with the fact that the life you may have envisioned for yourself is not the one you living can be daunting. We have to realize that there is a greater plan in play and that God has the bigger picture in mind. I am a firm believer that He orchestrates these things according to His will. Many families who have adopted children will say that the miracle of how their family was form had to be by divine intervention.
The fact that Ziva has the an itch on her back at the exact same spot as her dad is uncanny. There are many other nuances that cannot be explained. We have engaged with approximately forty “Miracle Families” over the past decade and I can say without a doubt that these families have similar stories to mine.
So as we make the decision to adopt, we embrace “…for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”
Our journey allows us to become the hands and heart of God in this way as we extend ourselves in love to precious children that are on the His mind.
Love always
