Our Story
Our story is a simple one and uncomplicated story….. So we thought at first but the path to
today has been filled with all the colours of the rainbow, many highs and just as many lows.
The one and only constant has been the all-consuming love of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ.
Someone once said … “I know that I am not perfect but Jesus thinks I am to die for”
We are eternally grateful for His love and the abundance of life we have in HIM.
Len and I met at a youth meeting years ago and we’d later admit to each other that we both
did not fancy the other at that first encounter, but God had other plans, and we were drawn
together by divine intervention.
Our personalities are anything but similar which has made for an interesting and eventful
life thus far.
After two years of marriage we were ready to start a family, but this was not meant to be,
not the way we had planned. Our struggle, that is struggle to conceive, has been heart
wrenching and painful. We have been through all kinds of prodding and poking and testing
and disappointments. Not to mention the pills, injections, mood swings and tantrums. It
seems like we have been in labour for 15 years.
Adoption has always been on our heart but the timing was never right, there were even
failed attempts of adoption which was never in the will of God to begin with.
When we were told of our daughter or rather the gift we were to receive, there was much
doubt. The first thing we did was take this matter to our spiritual parents who took it before
Our Heavenly Father. We were filled with excitement and fear at the same time.
After discussing with our families, the excitement among our parents, siblings and close
family was electric. Doubts and fears were soon replaced with joy and expectancy. On the
26/02/2012 when we first met our beautiful little girl… she was this pink ball of screams and
was feisty from the first moment we laid eyes on her. Len was the first to carry her and I
stood by and watched his eyes to see the agony of the past 15 years melt into pure love.
That was the moment of no return….
This past years have been the most exciting of our lives with our amazing, delightful little
girl. The memory of bringing her home the first day is as fresh as if it were yesterday. Her
tiny perfect face, feet and hands. Her dimpled smile. She is petite and precious, my darling
Fancy Face and Len’s Loolie loolies…
As new parents we had to learn the art of making a baby sleep and Len hit it right with a
song “Jesus You be lifted high by Michael W Smith.
It has become the anthem of our family “Jesus you be lifted high”
