fill empty homes and orphan hearts

Founders Story

After having own eyes and hearts opened to the needs of orphans and being personally
impacted by adoption, we being Lenny and Beverley Gengiah have established the Khevna
Foundation in 2021.
An organization based in Durban South Africa to care for orphans by engaging the
community and reducing barriers to adoption.
The name Khevna means “wish” a synonym of hope and our wish is to bring hope to barren
families and orphan children.
Every year, millions of people consider growing their family through adoption, but only a
small percentage of those who consider adoption actually move forward. The vision of
Khevna Foundation is to bring awareness to our communities on adoption. Our hope is to
assist families cross the line separating empties and orphaned children. Infertility or
barrenness difficult words to swallow and what might sound like the end become a
beginning.
Most children impacted by adoption or foster care have experienced abuse, trauma,
neglect, and/or early attachment injuries. Khevna Foundation hopes to provide practical
teaching and resources to better equip parents, caregivers, and professionals in order to
help restore hope to children and families on this healing journey. To date, more than 40
families and individuals have been impacted by a Miracles Momma’s and Pappa’s social
media chat group designed to help counsel and guide both children and parents on this
platform
Khevna Foundation aims to focus on the future, with the intent of impacted the lives of
children that outgrow the social development care in providing a home and family they can
belong to after turning 18 years old. To educate and empower today’s students—and our
next generation of leaders—to effectively care for and make a difference in the lives of
children who have been orphaned—not just for tomorrow but for today.
