Good morning, good people. Did you know? Earliest known adoption: Pharaoh’s daughter adopted Moses in the Bible.
What an interesting fact, not only was this the first recorded adoption but also this was a cross cultural and racial adoption.
There is much foreboding when it comes to inter racial adoption which is understandable. The first bridge to cross would be that there is a child that needs a home, a home you will be able to provide. The culture of your home is the culture into which the child will grow up in.
Many times we tend to complicate things by being pressured by society as to how we raise our kids. Go with what you know and what has worked for your family.
Culture is what is perpetuated from one generation to the next. As you were taught the life skills, culinary techniques, hygiene practices and religious beliefs so you pass on to your children.
I remember the joy of having our adoption finalized and sitting in front of the judge in her chamber’s being told everything is in order go do what is right for your family.
The onus was on Len and I to raise our daughter in the culture we cultivated.
Do not be intimidated by the demands of society.
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Love always…
