Pursue love, it never fails. Our work in a home of safety for abused and orphaned girls began just over three years ago. As always what we thought would be a casual visit and a drop off of meals for the seven girls and house mother turned out to be a long lasting relationship that has grown in leaps and bounds. It was an instant love for each girl that has developed into practical action as often as we can to assist in anyway we can.
We have weathered a few storms together and also celebrated many achievements and moments of great joy in these past few years. Our sincere prayer and hope is to be a constant in the lives of these beautiful souls. Leaving behind the hurts of the past and setting these girls on a trajectory of hope for future success is an all consuming desire of ours. Being able to hold their hands and lead them further passed the time the systems lets them go is on our hearts.
It is only a God of love who is able to fill the hearts of strangers to these girls with His heart of love for them. We are no longer strangers to them but family. Our visits to them leave us refreshed and uplifted. The house mother is a woman of great strength and love and she fills the home with the aroma of her cooking, the changing pictures of their many adventures and a love that can only come from Christ.
We pray for God’s guidance and grace as we move forward in the plans He has for us and these darling girls. Len my husband always longed for a home filled with girls and just maybe he will get that very wish.
Open our hearts dear Lord to your will, may our heart, hands, feet and abilities be an extension of your intent.
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
